Incoherent man with large knife entered stranger's home, climbed in bed with child
EUGENE, Ore. - A man entered a Eugene home early Thursday morning and got in bed with a child, who in turn alerted their parents.
The family barricaded themselves inside the house until police arrived.
The home is in the Jefferson Westside area, not far from where a paved pedestrian trail connects the Fern Ridge Trail to the county fairgrounds.
The caller reported an unknown man - later identified as 29-year-old Devin Roman Frazer - had walked into his house.
"The caller reported was alerted to the presence of Frazer in the home by his child after Frazer had gotten in bed with their child and the child alerted the parents," police said.
The caller advised perhaps Frazer was having a mental issue and that he was not acting violently.
However, later the caller reported Frazer was not responding coherently and was becoming aggressive.
The family barricaded themselves in the house as officers responded to the scene.
Police entered the home and found Frazer in the living room.
"He was semi-compliant and made incoherent statements. He was taken into custody without incident," police said. "During a search incident to arrest, he was found to have a large knife concealed in his pants."
Police arrested Frazer for investigation of Criminal Trespass.
