baby born on Valentine’s Day with heart-shaped birthmark
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A north Mississippi couple is celebrating the birth of their new baby boy, and it won’t be hard to remember his birthday.
River Lee Waldrop, who was a week old as of Wednesday, was born on Valentine’s Day and has a heart-shaped birthmark on his arm to go with the love-filled date.
Baby River’s parents, David Waldrop and Nancy Anderson said even the staff at Baptist DeSoto were shocked by the special birthmark.
“They didn’t believe it. They thought it was so amazing,” Anderson said.
“They said they’ve never seen anything like that actually,” Waldrop said.
The Marshall County, Mississippi, couple calls River their miracle baby, saying their faith has gotten them by during difficult times. They tried for years to have a child.
“We’ve been trying for four years. Went to a few doctors, praying, took medicine and stuff,” Waldrop said.
“We prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed,” Anderson said.
But finally, after years of trying, their prayers were answered on February 14. River wasn’t actually due for a few more weeks.
“If he would’ve been born on any other day, I don’t believe he would have that heart on his arm,” Waldrop said.
For them, River represents life, happiness, and faith. It’s something these parents hope others can feel, too.
“If you’re going through something just keep on keeping on. Don’t give up, never give up,” Waldrop said.
River was originally due March 7. He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 20 inches long.
